Electric Violins

Sound Samples: Omega 5-String Electric Violin

1. Violin tone – This illustrates the purity and richness of the Barbera Pickup enhanced with a warm, spacious reverb.

2. Fiddle tone - A woodier sound with a nice edge and bite.

3. 6 String Prodigy Pro Violin - played through a Marshall amp on a clean setting.

4. Long Delay - Ahhh the possibilities…you can set a delay from a millisecond to several seconds creating a myriad of sound textures and layers.

5. Octaver - The processor has taken the original signal and dropped it a whole octave and then remixed it back in. You can set any interval you like, from a minor 2nd to 3 octaves above or below.

6. C-String - Here we have the Viola/Violin combination, great for thickening any background parts. Very expressive and powerful for soloing.

7. Chorus - The violin is double tracked in real time but one part is mixed back in slightly out of tune to give the illusion of more than one instrument.

8. Overdrive - Lots of dirt and attitude. With the computer modeling of amplifiers that is now available you can get the sound of any amp on the market by simply twisting a dial.

9. Wah-Wah - My favorite! It always gets everybody's attention when an electric violin begins to get vocal with the expressive qualities of the wah-wah pedal.

All samples were played by Sean Kemp using a Digitech RP200 effects processor. Recorded live in his living room to a Roland VS-840GX Digital Recorder.

Electric Cellos

1. Pizzicato – Lots of nice fundamentals and a healthy amount of oomph. Plenty of bottom end for playing bass lines.

2. Delay- A nice long delay really gives spacyness and variety to the electric cello tone.

3. Large Reverb-- This illustrates the purity and richness of the Barbera Pickup enhanced with a warm, spacious reverb.

All samples were played by John Scott using a Digitech RP200 effects processor. Recorded live in his living room to a Roland VS-840GX Digital Recorder.
